Making Memories
Gathering
Place participants tell us that, from the moment they first hear the doctor say
“I’m sorry, it’s cancer,” everything else becomes just a blur. Days, weeks and
months can pass by in a fog. One’s sense of time changes so that whole seasons
are forgotten. It is for this very reason that we offer programs and services
that help whole families regain this lost time, reframing it in a more helpful
light.
Our
clay instructor, Maureen Moses, ATR, said that she often tries to incorporate
memories in her projects at The Gathering Place, helping our participants see
the people and events that have shaped their lives. All of our experiences,
both negative or positive, can be honored for the part they played in making us
who we are today.
In
this calendar you will find several offerings that guide patients and their
family through these memories. In keeping with the approaching holidays and the
human tendency to perform an end-of-the-year personal assessment, we invite you
to honor your experience, and look ahead with new eyes.
